Song Collaboration – Out The Door To Play
One of the most fun things that I do here in The GeniusLab Studio is write songs with people. Last week Norman Vaux II Executive Director of FinalCycles.org sent me a great story in lyric form and said, “Can you make this a song?” The theme is We’re Out The Door To Play!
I thought for a while …
I Grabbed My Guitar
The guitar jumped off the wall and I thought, what kind of energy do I feel when I read these lyrics?
A few chords began to take form and then all of a sudden, a fun powerful, and fun-filled chord progression came jumping from my fingers to the guitar.
And in no time, a song was borne.
Out The Door To Play
“Out the door to play”
Intro / Chorus
It can’t be stopped
but you don’t think so.
It’s the eve of destruction
and you’re still on a roll.
There’s a better way
but you don’t care.
It’s your unconscious nature
that keeps you unaware.
Verse 1
It’s not your problem
but you really don’t know.
Out-of-site out-of-mind
is your natural flow.
Verse 2
The storm’s a comin’
But you shelter in place
To hell with the others.
They can ask for grace.
Chorus
It can’t be stopped
but you don’t think so.
It’s the eve of destruction
and you’re still on a roll.
There’s a better way
but you don’t care.
It’s your unconscious nature
that keeps you unaware.
Verse 3
It’s the wake call
That you just don’t hear
cause your next acquisition
is fill-in up your ears.
Verse 4
So . . . go fuck yourself
we’ll find our own way
Your brains are for plastic
we’re out the door to play.
Chorus x2
